Words worth sharing from our Faithful Navigator, Bill Jackson

What’s going on at the Assembly that we are proud of and that you may have missed?  It’s all right here for you to link to and share with fellow Third Degree Knights, family and friends.

A walk down memory lane for May, June and July 2019

    • Do not be afraid. Do not be satisfied with mediocrity. Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.”
      ― Pope John Paul II

Bishop Luis Rafael ZaramaMay was a busy month for Divine Mercy Assembly 3005, as the Assembly supported the confirmation of TYM students at St. Thomas More Catholic Church for the entire Piedmont Deanery. Bishop Luis Rafael Zaramaofficiated the confirmation which also included a reception in the Friends and Family Hall following the confirmation. Bishop Luis Rafael Zarama also made time for a photo op with area Sir Knights that served as ushers.

The Assembly also welcomed two new Sir Knights that attended the Exemplification at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Goldsboro, NC. Our new Sir Knights are Sir Knights Rodger Traynor and Bruce Jackson.

In June we hosted a joint Assembly installation of officers with Monsignor O’Brien Assembly 3365 in Durham. After the installation we had a fabulous potluck dinner for all new officers, fellow Sir Knights, and their families.

On July 4th our Assembly participated with the Monsignor William O’Brien Assembly with the Caldwell 4th of July Parade. This is an annual Patriotic event for both Assemblies as a joint patriotic community event that has a near 20 year history of our support.

Postscript

There are so many projects that our Assembly is involved in.  For example,

  • We spearheaded initial funding for a mobile medical team to provide care for those who could not afford or had no medical coverage.  Our initiative made the project possible and in the end, full funding was provided.
  • We raised funds to purchase 20 winter coats and $200 in gift cards for the VA Voluntary Services Office to assist with supporting homeless veterans.
  • We hosted a Spaghetti Dinner to raise funds for projects
  • We continued our support of the area Highway Cleanup Program.
  • We raised funds to support one Seminarian with $500
  • Several members are leading the fundraising for and building of a $500,000 county Veterans Memorial.
  • Several members are building a new American Legion Post on a 128-acre site.
  • Several members are leading local veterans organizations to promote patriotism and fund scholarships for youth.
  • Many of our members are serving as leaders or members of parish committees and ministries.
  • Et cetera, et cetera…. And so on, and so on …

Want to learn more about what we do and how we do it?  Want to be a part of our Patriotic Degree?  If you are a Third Degree Knight, ask any of our members to assist you and to sponsor you as a candidate for the Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus.  We’ll help you in your quest to serve our parish and our community.

We are proud of what we do and why we do it because it comes naturally.  We are eager to share our discipleship of service to others.
